All that other stuff I mentioned about this weekend? Well, it’s important too, but if you’ve never seen Elia Kazan’s magnificent film or Marlon Brando’s brilliant performance — debatably, one of cinema’s all-time best — then get your ass down to Film Forum immediately. If you’ve only seen it on video, go treat yourself by celebrating the movie’s 50th Anniversary and watching this new 35mm restoration print. And if you’ve seen it multiple times like I have, well, I don’t really need to convince you why it’s worth seeing in its projected form again. It’s only scheduled to play through next Thursday, and chances are, it won’t be extended. So go. Now. Good.
